During an accident conditions B and C can diffuse into the wall of the control rod tube and locally change its internal structure, causes the formation of melt. As the melt becomes further enriched with B and C, it can become Fe-enriched carboboride between the granules of B4C, and Cr-enriched carboboride layer surrounding the granules.
