Fig.9-1 Computational science research at the Center for Computational Science and e-Systems
The performance of a supercomputer is measured by the number of arithmetic operations it can perform in one second (i.e., floating-point operations per second, FLOPS). Exascale (i.e., 1018 FLOPS) supercomputers are expected to be standard in the near future, as are technologies to utilize them fully (i.e., exascale computational technology). The Center for Computational Science & e-Systems applies the latest technologies, such as exascale computational technology and machine learning techniques, and promotes the development of fundamental technologies to analyze complex phenomena in nuclear engineering.
