Traditional methods destroy interfering molecules (isobars) using gas. However, when trying to reduce the accelerating voltage for downsizing, significant scattering occurs upon collision with the gas, diminishing the analytical capability. By using a crystal surface, interfering molecules can be broken down without such scattering.
