Polymer films with cylindrical pores can be prepared by irradiation of thin polymer (CR-39, 50-100 micrometer) with U (11.6 MeV/n) or Kr (6.2 MeV/n) ions, followed by etching at 60 degrees cent. in the NaOH solution for 1 hr. Using films of various copolymers with CR-39, pore diameters in the range of 0.5 - 30 micrometer can be obtained.
